Rules
Don't put that in your mouth!
As with all communities, AmbitiousLemon web hosting comes with some rules. Before you request hosting we require that you read our full list of rules and verify that AmbitiousLemon will be a suitable host for your website. These rules are applied under an honor system. We believe in trusting our users and choose not to host those we feel we cannot afford this trust. If you have violated that trust we will not hesitate to terminate your account.
- AmbitiousLemon reserves the right to refuse service to anyone we choose. We reserve the right to terminate a user's hosting at any time without prior notice.
- Users must follow all relevant local and United States federal laws. The server is located in the United States of America (USA), and therefore the laws governing the USA apply. Local laws where you reside may also apply. It is your responsibility to conduct your website in compliance with these laws. Of particular relevance are laws pertaining to copyright infringement. Many commercial and governmental organizations zealously pursue copyright violations, often violating the law themselves or even suing and prosecuting innocent bystanders. As a result, copyright violations are a threat to the entire community, regardless of our non-involvement in the crime.
- AmbitiousLemon web hosting is for not-for-profit and non-profit websites only. Websites must not use advertising banners, sell products, or sell services of any kind. It is our hope that by offering a web hosting service for free we will enable you to provide your products and services for free.
- No hosting websites that offer Microsoft Windows platform products or services, free or otherwise. Linux, Macintosh, and alternative platforms are all welcome.
- Users must not use the server for mass mailing.
- Users must not run websites dedicated solely to religion or politics.
- If users install any web applications, such as blogs, forums, photo-galleries, CMS software, etc the user is required to maintain all security updates for said applications as the updates become available.
- Users are free to post resumes or portfolios of their work as long as it is not the singular purpose of the website. This is not considered a violation of the rule against offering for-profit services.
- Donation and Tip Jar buttons are allowed on websites we host as long as a portion of the money collected is donated back to the server. Non-profits may use their sites for sales and fundraisers without donating a portion of the proceeds to AmbitiousLemon.
- At this time, websites need to be in english or have an english translation available so that we may easily review any rule violations or complaints that we receive. Exceptions to this rule can be made.
Exceptions to the rules (specifically the not-for-profit rule) are made on a case-by-case basis. We occasionally allow websites that have grown with us and have begun making a profit to remain under the condition that they contribute to the community either through personal involvement or donations. If you have any questions regarding these rules, or wish to report a violation of these rules, please do not hesitate to contact us.
